A few more shots from Alarna and Dave’s gorgeous wedding… I’m slowly working my way through a pile of undeveloped rolls. Slide film isn’t something I shoot very often—these days my first choice is usually a black & white—so the saturated colour and clarity of this film was a bit of a surprise. Quite perfect for an evening in the country though.

Jonas Peterson is the photographer you can see hard at work in those last two shots. He did a beautiful job recording Alarna and Dave’s wedding.

It’s been a long time between posts here I know, I have a few projects in the works and a new website and blog that I’m hoping to share soon… stay tuned!

There are so many rolls of film on my desk and in my bag—and let’s face it, all over the place—that need developing. But I finally got a roll back from a visit to Esk recently. After a rather crappy nights sleep I ventured out of our motel at 5am and wandered about the little country town on a Sunday morning.

Exploring a town in the quiet of an early morning is quite wonderful.

Last weekend my Dear friends Alarna & Dave got Hitched, and I was lucky enough to be their Polaroid wedding photographer. Their gorgeous wedding was uniquely them, it was held on a perfect summer day in the country and reflected both their creative personalities and history. Alarna is the talented lady behind Little Jane Street, and the handmade details were pure magic. Just as I knew they would be.

A few favorites from time spent in Berkeley. Right now I could really do with a stroll in that east bay sun and a squish from this ridiculous cat. Maybe the weekend will be filled with sunshine and cuddles… lets hope!

the other side of the ocean

I recently spent a month in San Francisco with my best friend. It’s taken me a little bit of time to gather photos, my thoughts and myself after returning, and I know I left a big piece of myself on the other side of that puddle we call the pacific. I visited for the first time last year, and by pure coincidence I found myself meeting Leah at the airport once again, exactly one year later. To the day.

Somehow, the internet gave me the most wonderful best friend imaginable. This woman is amazing and sometimes I find it hard to believe we haven’t known each other since we were four years old.

While I was there, I spent many hours wondering coastal trails and watching the pacific from my new favorite beach. It was time spent perfectly, exactly what my soul needed.

I pretended to be a local while exploring surrounding neighborhoods.

I spent time with the most wonderful people, discovered places I know I’ll visit again and revisited places I’ve missed…

We had the most amazing day road tripping up the coast…

and for once, the universe put me in the right place, at the right time…

Leaving was incredibly difficult. But I came home knowing the pacific isn’t so vast after all, and that home isn’t made of walls or earth. It’s made of people.

San francisco

The past couple of weeks have been amazing. I’ve been exploring San Francisco, staying with my best friend and hanging out like we never get to do, and shooting a little film. I never expected to make friends with my iPhone camera though… but I’m kinda enjoying it.

It’s going to be very hard to leave this much wonderful behind.

Spend more time in magical places filled with light and fog.

The Hinterland is somewhere I don’t visit too often, which is a bit of a shame. It’s a beautiful place, made of rolling hills, deep valleys and gorgeous rainforest. And most of all, peace and quiet.
